Diffle keeps the daily word hunt from Wordle but changes the feedback. After each guess, letters do not simply turn green or yellow in place. They group into circles and connected pills that describe order, spacing, and position inside the hidden answer.
Your score is tied to efficiency: uncover the word using as few letters as you can. Every guess must be a real word. Press Enter to submit, read the shapes, and narrow the field until the board locks green.
There is no fixed word length. Type a dictionary word, then press Enter. Invalid words are rejected. Each accepted guess adds another row of clues on the board.
Diffle uses shapes, not just tile colours. In each example below, green marks a match and yellow marks a letter that belongs but sits in the wrong place relative to order:
Grey circles mean those letters are not in the answer.
E, A, and L are in the word in that order. P is in the word but cannot sit before E.
A green pill means those letters appear together in a row inside the answer.
Rounded caps on a green block mark the start or end of the word. Here it starts with E and ends with LE.
One solid green bar means you found the answer.
Carry rules forward from earlier guesses. If a letter stayed grey, never use it again. If MPL locked into a pill, keep that trio consecutive in later tries. When every letter sits inside one green bar, the puzzle is done.
Single-tile feedback tells you about one slot at a time. Diffle compresses more information into each row. A pill spanning three letters means all three stay adjacent in the final word. A capped block on the left tells you the answer opens with that letter without fixing every position after it.
That extra structure is why diffle rewards planning. You are not only collecting greens. You are assembling rules about order, runs, and banned letters, then testing words that respect the whole set.
A guess like SHIRT where every letter sits in a grey circle is still useful. You eliminate five characters in one line. The next guess should introduce letters you have not ruled out.
When you see separate green circles on E, A, and L in PEDAL, you know those three appear in that sequence somewhere in the answer, even if other letters sit between them. A full green bar on EXAMPLE means the search is over.
Diffle tracks how many letters you type across all guesses. Reusing a grey letter wastes effort. Rebuilding a broken pill wastes a row. Strong players write down three lists: letters confirmed, letters banned, and letter pairs or triples that must stay together.
Start broad to clear the alphabet, then switch to short words that test one new rule at a time. The win is sweeter when the final bar appears on a slim guess count.
